The State of Jefferson is located on the west coast of the United States, nudged up against Oregon, California and Nevada. In 1941, residents of northern California and southern Oregon, frustrated by being "double-crossed" by their state capitals, seceded to form the State of Jefferson. In 2016, Jeffersonians will celebrate their state's 75th birthday, and to commemorate the year, the Jefferson Travel Authority launched a campaign to increase notoriety and tourism to the region.

The Emerald Edge, the world’s largest intact temperate rainforest, extends along the coasts of Washington, Britsh Columbia, and Southeast Alaska. It is a leading source of wild salmon, an enormous carbon capturer and home to deeply rooted, diverse people. The Emerald Edge is a landscape of spectacular resources, but it has also seen decades of unsustainable fishing and timber harvesting practices. Emerald Edge, in partnership with The Nature Conservancy, is an initiative that aims to protect this landscape-- through practices that address this landscape as a social, economic and environmental whole. To date, it has helped protect 19 million acres of the Great Bear Rainforest.
